My performance piece entitled "tornado" was a statement on the eagerness of the Oklahoma news stations to overreact to stormy weather. The repetition of the twister in the background was to emphasize the regularity of severe weather in our region. The clip from the musical "Oklahoma" was to show historically the weather patterns of our state. My rain gear attire was to symbolize my preparedness for constant stormy weather. My nonchalant attitiude towards the tornado behind me is to show that as a native I am not easily scared by mediated threats of stormy violence. I wanted to show how the media in this region uses clips from past storms to scare viewers into unnecessary worry, but they couldn't scare me.
