Sonata for Secured Trumpet:
Allegro on Trotto
In today's post - 911 culture of national insecurity, where every envelope, every ice cream cart, every Coup de Ville is suspect, there is a feeling of vulnerability coupled by a fear of the unknown, which combine to heighten the mass psychosis that is twenty-first century America. When once we felt obliged, even comfortable attending public performances of music, today, the sense of fear keeps our doors locked, and our curtains drawn, as we transfix ourselves nightly on the Great American Truth Machine. And so the time has come for the Sonata, and others, to seek out and find it's' audience. "Smart " music, that offers a moment, however fleeting, in which one may recall those days when entertainment reigned in America, and Americans reined in entertainment.
