The area of Film & Media Arts in the School of Art at the University of Oklahoma is co-hosting an
international intermedia cyber video telematic performance spanning three time zones and two
continents. This event will bring together the collaborative efforts of the University of Dortmund,
Germany, the University of Iowa, the Pacific Northwest College of Art, and the University of
Oklahoma in one physical space. The cyber video telematic performance is scheduled to take
place Tuesday, November 27 in the main ballroom of the Memorial Union at 2:00 pm central
standard time, 12:00 pm pacific standard time, and 9:00 pm western european time.
The four institutions are uniting around the common theme of Mediated Trace Structures. Artists
will respond both individually and collectively to this concept on personal, political, and social
levels via performance and video art. In addition students and faculty at the University of
Oklahoma will address how we as both audience and media makers/producers perceive, receive,
and project events in an electronic mediascape. How do geographical location and imposed
stereotypes influence the way we are perceived by the rest of the world? Do these stereotypes
influence perceptions of the "self" and conversely how do we project ourselves into electronic
media space?
