Welcome to my
homepage!
(I have created this homepage as part
of an assignment for my Indian
Epics class (MLLL 4993) at OU.
Below are some pictures taken in the vicinity where I grew up (in
Bavaria).

Picture #1 and #2 show the
Danube in Kelheim near Regensburg. The round building on top of the
mountain is called the Befreiungshalle.
If you like, you could take a boat
ride. Picture #1 shows were your journey would start. You
would travel
upstream for about 45 minutes to reach the destination of picture #2.
At this point, you would get off the boat and look around the monastery
of Kelheim. Benedict monks live there and
they are still brewing and selling beer like they have always done. You
can also look at their very old and beautiful chapel or you can buy
some souvenirs. Afterwards you
can go back by boat, but this time the trip will only take you 10-15
minutes, because you travel downstream. I have done this trip many
times. It is a lot of fun.
The third picture shows my
favorite river, the Naab. It is my favorite river,
because I used to swim in it daily in the summer time while
I grew up there. Thus, I have many pleasant memories like playing with
my
friends, rowing our little boat upstream to the next city, turning the
boat upside down, swimming around a reservation island for birds,
watching the swans and their babies,.. The river flows into the
Danube (die Donau). Looking
at the river always revitalizes me, because it reminds me of many
refreshing
moments when I cooled off in the river on hot summer days.

The city
where I grew up and
through which this river flows is called Nabburg. The German word Burg means castle and thus the
name Nabburg basically means castle at the river Naab. If you visit the
town Nabburg, then you will understand its name.
Most of the city wall of the 1050 year old city is still preserved
showing its medieval
character. Part of that wall you can see in picture # 6. A great place
to take a little sight-seeing stroll. Obviously, the town offers also a
great
setting for a medieval festival which takes place every
other year in July. Picture # 5 is taken during one such festival. From
there you can also overlook the rest of the
city. Additionally, there are several beer gardens right close to the
city wall which
allow you to drink a good beer with some Bratwurst while enjoying a
stunning view. The center of the town + the church (see picture # 4) is
on top of the
hill
while the rest (which developed gradually later on) is spread out
around the river
valley and the other side of the hilly town.
Here are some of my favorite Einstein and Goethe quotes:
Do not worry about your
difficulties in Mathematics. I can assure you mine are still greater.
(Einstein)
Education is what remains after one has forgotten
what one has learned in school.
(Einstein)
I have no special talent. I am only passionately
curious.
(Einstein)
Correction does much, but encouragement does more.
(Goethe)
The hardest thing to see is what is in front of your
eyes.
