Mythcon XXXVII Art Show
The Map & The Territory: Maps and Landscapes in Fantasy

Details
Mythcon XXXVII will take place August 4-7, 2006, at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma. It will include an art show of works related to fantasy, myth, or legend—especially the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis and Charles Williams.
Regulations
The art should relate thematically to some aspect of fantasy, myth, or legend, especially the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, and Charles Williams. The theme of this year’s conference is “The Map and the Territory: Maps and Landscapes in Fantasy,” so allow this to inspire your creation if you wish.
Other Regulations:
Ø Art of any size, shape, or medium is acceptable (within reason), as long as it is prepared suitably for exhibit.
Ø Frames or mats are required for flat art works.
Ø Your name and address should appear on the back of each piece, or on the base for three-dimensional works.
Ø Please remember that Mythcons are family events with children in attendance, so artwork should show nothing that is sexually explicit.
Auction
Art entered into the show and offered for
sale is sold through a written/verbal auction system. The artist sets a minimum
bid, and buyers may bid this up in writing on the bid sheet.
All items that have two or more bids
in writing will be put up for verbal bidding at the auction on Sunday.
All other works will be saleable at the
minimum bid. The Mythopoeic
Society charges a 10% commission on the final price.
Fees
Display and hanging fees must be paid in person when work is delivered to the conference and are as follows:
Auction Art
Ø Hanging, full panel (4 x 8): $10.00
Ø Display table, full table (3 x 8): $20.00
Ø Hanging, half panel (4 x 4): $5.00
Ø Display table, half table (3 x 4): $10.00
Display Only Art
If you wish to simply display your work, we certainly welcome that, and only the hanging fees or display table fees will apply.
Forms
Please fill out the registration form and send to Caroline.E.Fitzsimmons-1@ou.edu, or contact me for paper forms. We will send you a bid sheet; please fill out two (2) copies of the bid sheet (small form) for each work; one is affixed to the back and one displayed with the work for people to write in their bids.

Delivering Entries
Ø All artwork must be brought to the show by the artist or the artist's representative.
Ø
Mail-in art will not be accepted
