
Profesor
José Juan Colín
After
completing his Ph.D studies at the University of New
Mexico, Albuerquerque, Professor Colín came to teach
Spanish as an ABD at the University of Oklahoma in 1999
(Ph.D. received in 2003) and he is now an Assistant
Professor, tenure track. He has a book published, Los
cuentos de Sergio Ramirez (1994), an analytical approach
to the short stories of the Nicaraguan writer Sergio
Ramírez Mercado. His field of expertise is the
Latin-American Literature and Culture of the 20th & 21st
Century focusing primarily in the social struggle
literature that flourished in the 1950's, 60's and 70's.
Born and raised in Mexico City, he has a deep love for
his country and culture and enjoys very much teaching
it. He has written, published and presented some
articles on contemporary Central American, Mexican and
Caribbean writers as well as those of South America.
Prof. Colín is currently in charge of coordinating the
First Year Spanish Program and he is also the Spanish
Teaching Assistants Coordinator in this department.
