As an experimental research psychologist I work in the field of personality psychology. My research is interdisciplinary as it combines the study of both personality and human factors. I focus primarily on personality traits with biological and/or perceptual bases (e.g. extraversion and neuroticism) and am principally interested in research using human performance and/or psychophysiological measures. Some of my previous work has employed the Brainstem Auditory Evoked Response. For example, one study examined the relationship between Extraversion, the Eysenck Personality Inventory, and the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire. I am presently studying behavioral aspects of traits with biological bases. My current research program seeks to gain a better understanding of how personality interacts with environmental factors, and how together they affect individual responses to external stimuli. Specifically, we manipulate external arousal (i.e., the environment) and use human performance tasks to examine differential responses of individuals high and low on personality traits of interest.
