No, It's not 'Broadway Boogie Woogie' at night- the colored spots here represent degrees of relationship between various crustacean EST libraries, as visualized through the PyMood (Allometra) Program: see Durica et al. (2006).

NSF logoResearch Interests and Collaborators
A major focus of our laboratory has been an examination of the organization and evolution of gene families, and the programmed activation of evolutionarily related genes during invertebrate development. The link above describes our research characterizing the structure and expression of the crustacean ecdysteroid receptor, a member of the nuclear receptor gene family, in conjunction with other collaborators at OU and in India.  It also contains a link to a Uca pugilator expressed sequence tag (EST)  database we are assembling in collaboration with the OU Advanced Center for Genome Technology, representing genes expressed during different stages of crustacean limb bud regeneration, .

Using antibodies directed against the two components of the ecdysteroid receptor, the dark staining  indicates the
expression of the EcR and RXR nuclear receptor proteins localizing to the cell nucleus during  limb bud regeneration.
