About Dr. Ederington
Louis H. Ederington holds the Michael F. Price Chair in Finance at the Michael F. Price College of Business, University of Oklahoma. Prior to joining the University of Oklahoma in 1989, he was Senior Research Scholar and Professor of Finance at Washington University, St. Louis (1984-1989) and a member of the Economics faculty at Georgia State University (1970-1984). From 8/93 to 12/94 he was Senior Economic Advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Georgia. He was Associate Dean for Graduate Programs and Research at the Price College from 8/98 through 8/01. In fall 2001 he was Visiting Professor of Finance at the University of Otago (New Zealand) and in Spring 2002 Visiting Professor of Finance at Singapore Management University. Topics on which Professor Ederington has published two or more papers in referred journals include: futures, options, and hedging; corporate and municipal bonds; bond ratings; convertible bonds; and the impact of new information on financial markets. The hedging techniques developed in his 1979 JF article are now a standard part of most futures textbooks. His 1993 Journal of Finance article with Jae Ha Lee on “How Markets Process Information” was recognized as one of the most heavily cited JF articles of the 1988-1999 period (JF, August 2000, p.1878 ). He is listed as one of the top 100 authors (out of about 41,000) in Finance, Economics, Accounting, and the Law on the Social Science Research Network
(www.ssrn.com) where his working paper “Forecasting Volatility” with Wei Guan is currently the most requested paper in the SSRN Derivatives Journal. Current research topics include the design and use of option spreads and combinations, information asymmetries and bidding in online auctions, and financial market volatility.Professor Ederington is currently Associate Editor of the Journal of Financial Research and Accounting and Finance.
