SPECIALIZATION

Areas of specialization: Applied cognitive research; instruction and assessment of reading comprehension; measurement of motivational constructs; research methodology. Current research interests: The relationship between motivational and cognitive factors that affect learning; how instructional interventions can affect the representation of incoming information and perceptions of the instructional environment; the use of computer-assisted instruction to enhance learning; how perceptions of society and the learning environment, motivation to learn, and cognitive engagement may interact to affect learning.
