Dear
Diary,
I was sitting in the flower garden today
when I came up with a wonderful idea. My fantastic idea was to
have lunch on the balcony with a few of my close friends. Since
Spring has arrived, I figured we would take advantage of the beautiful
afternoon in store for us. I invited Daddy to come, but as you
all know, life as a King puts a restriction on spur of the moment
lunches. I can't wait for lunch on the balcony, it will be so
relaxing to catch up on all the rumors with my girlfriends.
Best wishes,
Sita
Dear
Diary
,
Well, lunch on the balcony was AMAZING.
However, there was something a bit unexpected that happened during
lunch. Out of nowhere comes a handsome man walking past the
palace. Being the princess and all, I typically can recognize
everyone that I encounter, but this man was a stranger. The man
walking by grabbed my
attention instantly by his presence alone. While I was staring
down at him, he looked up at me and I literally felt like my heart fell
to the floor. Soon after our eyes locked, he walked out of my
sight. I've felt nauseous and anxious ever since. I hope I
can figure out who this man is before I completely lose my mind and my
health!
Best wishes,
Sita
Dear Diary,
Since the last time I've written in my diary, I've
been a bit ill. I think you can honestly say I'm lovesick.
I know I cannot be in love with a man I only saw once. It seems
so crazy because I didn't even talk to him. This is so out of
character for me. Typically, I am so put together and calm.
It's almost like this man has powers over me and that he has put his
spell on me. How can a man do this to a woman?
Best wishes,
Sita
Dear Diary,
Daddy was supposed to stop by my room today to
visit. He knows that I haven't been feeling well. He
doesn't know why because I made the servants
swear to secrecy. However, I heard a knock on the door and I just
knew it would be my dad. Well, it wasn't him, but a messanger
summoning me to the court. So, now the
servants are
making me go outside to see something they tell me I will not
believe. I'll have to write in the details later, but now I've
got to hurry and get out there.
Best wishes,
Sita
Dear Diary,
Okay, you will never believe what happened
when I went to find out what all the craze was about. My father
found a man who could bend Shiva's bow that had been given to my
father. Everyone knows that I cannot marry a man until he can
bend the bow. It was amazing that someone had the strength to do
so. That's not all the news. Guess who the man was?
It was the same man that I have been sick about all week!!! The
man's name is Rama and he is the prince of Adhoya. We are going
to be wed in a few days and I honestly cannot wait. He is the man
of my dreams and it is destiny that has brought us together. At
the beginning of th week I was excited about my lunch plans. I've
gone from lunch plans to wedding plans in a single week! I would
have never guessed this would have happened to me! Well, I'm off
to go be with the love of my life now.
Best wishes,
Sita
Author's
Note:
You have just
read my second story from the Ramayana. I took parts of the story
from both Narayan and Buck. I hope you enjoyed reading the diary
entries. They
were obviously written by Sita. I told the story
through
her eyes and tried to incorporate her feelings into each entry as she
met Rama. As you read in the diary entries, Sita was head over
heels for Rama the instant she laid eyes on him. She loved him
and knew she was destined to love him and devote her life to him as his
wife. As it turns out, she actually does do that very
thing. Rama proves that he is capable of taking care of Sita and
gains her father's approval. Later on in their life, Rama is
exiled to the forest by his father, King Dasaratha, for fourteen
years. Sita follows
him into the forest to show her loyalty. Sita chooses to never
leave his side. While in the forest with Rama, Sita is kidnapped
by the evil Ravana. She still doesn't give up. Sita knows
that
Rama loves her. She also knows that he shares the same loyalty in
their marriage. Rama eventually rescues
Sita. I just love their story. It gives me hope that people
are
really destined to be together sometimes. I think that this story
of Rama and Sita fits into my storybook by offering another
version of love. In the first story, Unrequited Love, you get to see a
one-sided love story. In this story, Our Destiny Awaits, you get
to see a love story between two people who love one another equally.
