David Hudgins graduated from Ardmore High School in Ardmore, Oklahoma, in 1984. Interests included instrumental and vocal music, and football. He played the bass and guitar while performing in musical groups in several genres, from R&B, pop, rock, jazz, and country. He was a starter at strong safety for the 1982 Oklahoma class 4A state champion Ardmore Tigers, and was selected for the Oklahoma All-state chorus in 1984. He graduated from Oklahoma State University at Stillwater, Oklahoma, in 1988, with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in economics and a minor in finance. While at OSU, Hudgins received the Freshman Scholastic Achievement award, a 3-year university fee-waiver scholarship for academic achievement, a 2-year Bud Seretean Scholarship from the College of Business, the senior Richard H. Leftwich economics scholarship, and the Richard H. Leftwich Award for the top economics graduate. From the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, he earned a Master of Science degree in 1990 and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in 1993. He holds doctoral fields in international economics, macroeconomics, monetary economics, and econometrics. Hudgins served as an assistant professor at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX, from 1992–1995, primarily teaching doctoral and undergraduate courses in international economics. Some of the publications while at Texas Tech include “Optimal Foreign Exchange Information and J-Curve Effects,” “Government Debt Reduction through Optimal Macroeconomic Transitory Rules,” and “Has Foreign Exchange Intervention in the U.S. Been Optimal?” He served as a financial consultant for Merrill Lynch in 1996, and obtained the designation of Certified Financial Manager from The School of Advanced Financial Management at Merrill Lynch. He also obtained NASD series 7, 63, and 65 licenses to serve as a Registered Investment Advisor. Hudgins completed a master’s teacher certification program at Texas Tech University in 1997, and holds a lifetime Texas secondary teacher certification in mathematics and economics. He has taught a variety of high school mathematics and social studies courses during 1998-2002 at Fort Worth Northside High School and Naaman Forest High School, in Garland, Texas. Since 1990, he has studied many of the greatest enigmas of ancient past civilizations and their continuing influence. In 2003, he published the book Behind the Wheel: Geometry, Music, and Astronomy of Ancient Monuments, Myths, and Texts. Hudgins continually conducts research in this area. This has been augmented through travel across the world, including visits to places such as Coral Castle in Homestead, Florida; the Miami stone circle, Warm Mineral Springs, Florida; the Woodhenge and earthen structures at Cahokia, Illinois; the earthen mounds at Spiro, Oklahoma; Roswell, New Mexico; Australia; Mexico; Spain; Egypt; China; Okinawa; Stonehenge, Avebury, Silbury Hill, West Kennet Longbarrow and London in England; and Masonic architecture in Washington, D.C, New York City, and Philadelphia. A photo from this work is published in the 2004 book Talisman: Sacred Cities, Secret Faith, by Robert Bauval and Graham Hancock. Since 2003, he has served as an assistant professor in the department of economics at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma, where he has primarily taught undergraduate statistics, along with a variety of other graduate and undergraduate economics courses. At OU, Hudgins has conducted research in applied international and macroeconomics policy issues. Publications include “Optimal Monetary Rules for Averting Productivity Induced Jobless Recoveries,” and “Dollarization Versus Coordination for Small Countries Facing Dollar Dilemmas and Financial Liberalization.” Hudgins is an award-winning ballroom dancer and a professional teacher and choreographer. This includes competitive ballroom dancesport, musicals, weddings, and private instruction. Hudgins dances flamenco, and Spanish and Mexican folkloric, and is a principal dancer with Ballet Flamenco Espanol. He has trained flamenco with Simon “El Rubio” Zolan in Jerez de la Frontera in Andulusia in southern Spain. He also dances ballet, and performed in the 2006 Oklahoma Nutcracker in Norman. Hudgins has trained in mixed-martial arts (MMA) ultimate fighting. He holds a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, a yellow sash in Shaolin-Praying Mantis Kung Fu, and has studied Tai Chi, Tai Kwon Do, and wrestling. http://abbyhudgins.wikispaces.com/ |
