ART 2513: BEGINNING SCULPTURE CONTEMPORARY
COURSE DESCRIPTIONS
Introduction to basic sculpture processes and concepts. Emphasis is placed on developing formal visual principles and production techniques as they pertain to additive, subtractive and constructive modes of contemporary sculpture. A wide range of materials, tools and methods will be introduced. Fundamental wood working, plaster carving, brazing/soldering and non-traditional materials will be covered. Students are expected to complete several projects during the semester involving research, documentation and final presentation for critiques.
ART 3513: INTERMEDIATE SCULPTURE CONTEMPORARY PROCESS
Examination of metal fabrication & welding, metal casting, rubber mold-making / plastic casting, and advanced assembly with nontraditional / alternative materials. Projects develop a wide range of skills and engage contemporary sculpture. Students are required to present several finished works for critiques during the semester. If the opportunity exists, students may be involved in a collaborative experience with other disciplines within the school.
ART 4513: ADVANCED SCULPTURE CONTEMPORARY
Self-directed research objectives are examined to develop an individual body of work. Progress relating to personal artistic growth and professional discipline is expected. Emphasis will be placed on portfolio development and exhibition. This course may be repeated three times for a maximum of 9 credit hours.
ART 3533: INTERMEDIATE SCULPTURE CONTEMPORARY CONCEPTS
Emphasis is placed on the relationship of craft, subject, intent, scale, and material as related to specific conceptual concerns. Experimental sculptural avenues including nontraditional methods, kinetics, light, inflatables, installation and site-specificity are encouraged. Issues relating to professional exhibition, documentation, writing and critical theory will be presented.

ART 4953: SCULPTURE STUDIO TOPICS
Special topics in sculpture introducing unique processes or specialized collaborative experiences. Course work may include public sculpture, environmental art, furniture design, electronics and/or interdisciplinary projects. Course may be repeated three times for a maximum of 9 credit hours provided the content of the course is changed.

Independent study for special projects or unique research not associated with regularly scheduled courses. Course may be repeated twice for a maximum of 6 credit hours (variable credit).
