The OU sculpture program is pleased to present the 4th annual Fuego Friday! Halloween Iron Pour 2009! OU students and faculty from the School of Art & Art History and the College of Architecture (Landscape Architecture division) will be demonstrating the technological art of iron casting and pouring molten metal to create unique works of cast iron artwork. This event is an opportunity for the community to come watch a dramatic process that infuses art, engineering, chemistry and a little performance. Below is the schedule of events and special activities coinciding with the pour event. Please come join us for a visually stunning and fun evening celebrating art and creativity at OU!
The event is free and open to the public-- rain or shine.
The Visual Art Student Association will host a OU student Halloween costume contest!!!!
1st Prize a NEW video iPod Nano!!
2nd place $50 iTunes gift card!
3rd place $40 Target gift card
Judging will be held at the School of Art & Art History at 7:30 PM
(Students must register for the contest by 7:00 PM)
The OU sculpture program has plaque molds available to create YOUR very own custom work of cast iron art!
Molds are available in advance for $15 ea. or $20 the day of the pour

Molds will help raise funds for the sculpture program trip to the International Sculpture Conference in London (spring 2010)
OU printmaking program will host special guest artist Dennis McNett from Howling Print Studios, NYC McNett will be working with OU art students to create a performance on the north oval!
Visitor parking available in the Memorial Union parking deck accessible from Asp Avenue and parking lots north along University Blvd.
This event is outside and no seating will be provided. Please feel free to bring a lawn chair. Spectators will be kept a safe distance from the casting zone.
Plaque molds will be cast during the iron pour and every effort will be made to cool and prepare the casting to be taken home that evening.
All proceeds from the plaque molds support the Visual Art Student Association and the OU Sculpture department.
