Course Change: Ecology of Lakes Laboratory for SPRING 2008

G4471: Ecology of Lakes Laboratory. Prerequisite: 4463, or concurrent enrollment in 4463, or equivalent. Experience in the use of the basic limnological methods and application of these methods to a variety of freshwater environments. Field trips. Laboratory (Spring even-numbered years).

G4471: Ecology of Lakes Laboratory
Credit: 1 hour
Instructor: Dave Hambright
Time/Place: four (4) weekend trips primarly to the University of Oklahoma Biological Station on Lake Texoma

Course Objective:
To provide a general overview of monitoring and experimental techniques employed in the study of lake and stream ecosystems by:
•  introducing students to methods commonly used to study lakes and streams, including the identification of organisms, design and analysis of monitoring and experimental programs and methodologies, including report preparation.

Limnology laboratory will meet four weekends (Friday evening-Sunday morning; transportation provided) at the OU Biological Station, with a 5th meeting scheduled for the final exam.
