Michael was raised in Fairbanks Alaska. He enjoys motorcycle touring and has driven the Alcan five times on his BMW, R80 RT—three times by red Ford pickup. Although not as often as he should, he also enjoys riding his mountain bike. He has three cats: Ishmael, Avery, and Popcorn. Michael writes a "semi-annual" newsletter called the "Friends of Michael" letter. And what little free time remains is sometimes spent watching "Babylon 5," "South Park," "Law and Order," "The MacLaughlin Group," and CSI."

Michael searches the Web with Mamma ("The Mother of all Search Engines") and Google; writes html with PageSpinner; and reads Harlan Ellison on planes.
