Pablo Stoll & Juan Pablo Rebella Juan Pablo Rebella and Pablo Stoll were born in Montevideo, Uruguay, in 1974. They met at the Catholic University of Uruguay (Universidad Católica de Uruguay) when they were 18 years old and studying Communication. They have both worked in publicity and television. Their first film, 25 Watts, is somewhat autobiographical. It records the lives of three friends in a 16 mm. (later 35 mm.) black and white short that eventually became their first feature film. The film is highly realistic and has no plot. It was also shot using many long shots. It has some humor and also a bit of melaancholy. The directors took their film to the Rotterdam International Film Festival (The Netherlands), where it won two awards for both directors in 2001. At the 2001 Havana Film Festival, the directors won a Coral Award for Best First Work. It won additional awards and nominations in Montevideo, Buenos Aires, Gramado (Brazil), Valencia, and Bogotá in 2001. Their second film, Whisky, was filmed in two months and it won the Jury Award at the Cannes Film Festival (A Certain Regard) in 2004. It won other awards and nominations at the Tokyo International Film Festival, Lima Latin American Film Festival, Gramado Film Festival, and Brothers Manaki Intenational Film Festival (Macedonia) in 2004. Juan Pablo Rebella and Pablo Stoll wish to continue making films together. They have no interest in Hollywood. Filmography (for both directors):
