Course Description:
  • Analysis of 10 plays by the most important playwrights of the Spanish Golden Age.  We will also view three film versions of the most famous of these plays (Fuenteovejuna, El burlador de Sevilla, and La vida es sueño).


Grading Practices:

  • Four quarterly (25% each) evaluations based on attendance [1=A; 2=B; 3=C; 4=D; 5=F],  class participation, individual presentations, written work (4 compositions [one per evaluation period] consisting of 3 pp. each), quizzes (if  needed), and group work (trial) activities. 


Addenda:

  • Students with disabilities:  Any student in this course who has a disability that may prevent him or her from fully demonstrating his or her abilities should contact me personally as soon as possible so we can discuss accomodations necessary to ensure full participation and facilitate your educational opportunities.
  • Academic misconduct:  Students should be aware that academic misconduct entails severe penalties and the resentment of honest students.  For your information, "Academic misconduct includes (a) cheating (using unauthorized materials, information, or study aids in any academic exercise), plagiarism, falsification of records, unauthorized possession of examinations, intimidation, and any and all other actions that may improperly effect the evaluation of a student's academic performance or achievement; (b) assisting others in any such act; or (c) attempts to engage in such acts."  Student Code Book, p. 21.  For any such act of misconduct charge must be made.
