The Molecular Anthropology Labs are housed in the OU Stephenson Research and Technology Center (SRTC). The SRTC includes labs and offices for several of our faculty and students. The Molecular Anthropology Laboratories includes two labs. The ancient DNA laboratory is specifically designed for the study of degraded, low-copy number, DNA molecules such as those retrieved from prehistoric biological samples. Samples currently studied were taken from archaeological bone, hair and feces. The primary genetics laboratory is designed to handle non-degraded, high copy number, DNA molecules. Chemistry in this lab includes DNA extractions, DNA amplification, quantitative and allele specific characterization, and preparation for traditional and next generation DNA sequencing technologies. |
