Seminar involving in-depth criticism of children's materials; thematic/issues approach to reading guidance; 20th-century trends; recent literature; and selection/evaluation.

LIS 5373 Books and Materials for Young Adults

In-depth criticism of young adult materials; thematic/issues approach to reading guidance; 20th-century trends; recent literature; and selection/evaluation.

LIS 5453 Public Relations for Libraries and Information Centers

Examination of the communication process by which the library/information center personnel satisfy user needs and provide/transmit information about the program objectives and functions to develop public awareness and support. Involves as audiences: the users, the library/information center staff, general public, governance entities, political representatives, educational and service agencies and professional organizations .

LIS 5083 School Library Media Center Administration

History and role of school library media centers in the educational program; planning, organizing and administering library programs in the elementary and secondary schools.
