My research interests center around the creation, development, and diffusion of theories of all types.
I am currently completing a series of comparative case studies of "practice-generated theories" in various professionally-oriented fields, and how they compare to disciplinary norms of theory construction and diffusion. I will be presenting preliminary results from these studies at the 2010 Annual Conference of the American Educational Research Association in Denver as "How Theories Function in Practice and Praxis."
My publications include:
Theories in Practice: Theory Functions and Diffusion of Innovation
The Diffusion of Theories: A Functional Approach (wih Dr. Abby Goodrum of Ryerson University)
Mapping Research Specialties (with Dr. Steven Morris of Oklahoma State University)
Knowledge Management Competencies and Emerging Trends in the KM Job Market (with Kristin Thompson and Dr. Suliman Hawamdeh of the University of Oklahoma)
The Professionalization of Knowledge Management (with Dr. Suliman Hawamdeh of the University of Oklahoma), forthcoming in February, 2010
