My research interests are focused on issues related to education funding, including intergovernmental fiscal relationships, the fiscal effects of educational reform, educational capital outlay and debt service, and education finance litigation. The results of this research have been published in such journals as The Journal of Education Finance and the Yearbook of the American Education Finance Association. The primary thrust has been fiscal equity. Within education finance these research interests have branched out into the area of fiscal effects of educational reform. For example, one published study examined the effects of sweeping education reform in Oklahoma on the equity of Oklahoma’s state funding mechanism. Another study examined the financial effects of textbook adoption process and funding reform. An additional study that was published in the Journal of Education Finance examined the effects of class size restrictions on the adequacy and equity of state education funding, while still another study to b published in the Journal of Education Finance early next year focuses on fiscal support of teachers. Additionally, I have cadre of doctoral students who share an interest in this area of research, and they are being encouraged to investigate various fiscal effects of education reform efforts. Future research endeavors will continue to include fiscal equity as well as the fiscal effects of education reform. One area of reform that is ripe for investigation is technology leadership in education. I have began publishing in this area, as demonstrated by an article appearing in The Journal of Education Finance about the demands placed on school leaders in funding operating capital outlay related to technology equipment. Given the increasing importance of the field and personal interest, I will undoubtedly to continue to research financial provisions for technology reform in education. A growing number of doctoral students share this research interest.
