Essay guidelines
The paper should draw lines of comparison between either The Bridge on the Drina by Ivo Andric and the subject matter of this course as presented in textbooks, lectures, discussion, and film. It is an assignment of critical thinking with elements of research.
The paper should demonstrate your ability to develop a clear line of discussion leading to sustainable conclusions. You are expected to show familiarity with sources and accurate command of information.
Possible approaches include, but are not limited to, answers of the following questions:
1)Apart from being a literary masterpiece, The Bridge on the Drina is a documentary, portraying in a realistic manner major events of Balkan history. Identify which of the events studied in this course are depicted in the novel.
2)Spanning generations, nationalities, and creeds, The Bridge on the Drina portrays a society of enormous ethnic and religious diversity. Using characters from the book, outline the major nationalities living in Bosnia and characterize their relations.
