MEL PENN

 
Mel Penn is the Price College of Business Corporate Relations Executive and Director of the Student Support Center.  He joined the Price College and The University of Oklahoma in 1997. 

Mr. Penn's prior business career spans 23 years.  He joined Kerr-McGee Corporation in 1976 in the International Accounting Division.  Subsequently he assumed Marketing Management reponsibilities for the Eastern and Southern Chemical Divisions in Atlanta from 1980 -1990.  He was promoted to Director of Operations in 1991 for the Tiwest Joint Venture in Perth, Western Australia where he served until 1994.  The Tiwest project was a $400 million mineral sands and chemical plant constsruction joint venture between Kerr-McGee and Minproc Engineering of Perth.  He returned to the United States in 1994 to become Director of Total Quality Managementfor the Chemical Corporation in Oklahoma City. 

Prior business experience included 2 years with Republic National Bank of Dallas, TX. 

The Student Support Center was created in 1997 and provides mentoring, careerplanning and corporate development services to our MBA students including such activities as resume preparation,"mock interview" rehearsal, career counseling, salary netoriation, executive visitations and many more.  The Center alsoprovides the administrative maintenance of all scholarships awarded by the Price College. 

Mel is a 1972 BBA graduate of The University of Oklahoma.  He received his MBA in 1976.  He is an instrument rated pilot and enjoys exercise, reaing and antique car restoration.  He and his wife Betsy live in Norman.
