Dr. Kathleen B. Rager has been involved in the training field for over 22 years as a trainer and a manager of training services. She is currently an assistant professor in the College of Education at the University of Oklahoma where she is responsible for the emphasis in training and development at the masters and doctoral levels. Dr. Rager earned her doctorate in Adult Education from Kansas State University. She continues to conduct seminars on a range of topics, including effective presentations, career development, training-the-trainer, creativity and helping adults with learning and memory retention. Her clients have included major corporations such as IBM, Metropolitan Life, Texaco, and International Paper as well as small businesses and government agencies in New York, Kansas, and Oklahoma. Dr. Rager is the mother of three grown daughters and five incredibly bright grandchildren.

Selected Achievements:
  • Revised the concentration in training and development for the Master of Science in Adult and Higher Education at the University of Oklahoma. Developed a five-course sequence including Introduction to Training and Development, Human Resource Development Competencies, Management and Administration of the Training Function, Program Planning for the Adult Learner, and Design and Delivery of Distance Education.
  • Planned and implemented the development of the Wichita State University Downtown Center from its inception through the summer 2001 generating a 162% increase in enrollments in the first year.Responsibilities include facilities management, staffing, and all aspects of budgeting, scheduling, space rental, public seminars, contract programs, and marketing.
  • Trained over 4000 employees including first through fifth level management, exempt and nonexempt employees from a broad range of fields including manufacturing, programming, engineering, financial, administrative and educational functions, achieving consistent outstanding evaluations. Clients have included IBM Corporation, International Paper, Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, Texaco, as well as small business and government agencies in New York, Kansas and Oklahoma.
  • Developed successful customized training programs on a wide range of topic areas including adult learning, communications, interpersonal relations, management and supervisory development, quality improvement, needs assessments and training.
  • Created numerous credit and noncredit certificate programs to assist adult students to obtain valuable job related skills and knowledge. Programs included: Local Area Network Administrator, Professional Sales, Computer Competency, Professional Financial Planner, and Manufacturing Management.
  • Managed the growth of the IBM New Programmer Education contract from two credit courses and 18 students to over 2,016 enrollments and 106 credit classes. Presented this award-winning program as a successful model for corporate and academic partnerships at national conference.
  • Selected by the IBM Corporation as the lead developer and facilitator of workshops on process management for the Data System Division. Successfully worked with 45 process teams, two of which received awards.
