Introducción:

Bienvenidos al sitio oficial de la telenovela más querida y presenciada del mundo – Estrellas de verano. Acompáñanos mientras seguimos las vidas de dos mujeres absolutamente opuestas. Estrella es heredera de la familia más poderosa del país y Susi es una muchacha humilde que, tratando de ocultar su pasado, llega a ser una importante representante de la belleza (Miss Pacífico). Las dos mujeres se reúnen en un verano inolvidable en Acapulco y establecen una rivalidad fuerte para ganar el amor de Germán Esquivel, músico y poeta. Lo que no saben es que son hermanas, estrellas del mismo cielo, separadas en el momento de su nacimiento.

This "telenovela" is a core communicative and learning activity in the course. It requires authentic and informal use of the language, active communication with others in your learning community (group), and an opportunity to research and understand culture. Each week, you and your group members will participate in creating posible plots for Estrellas, or in evaluating the plots submitted by other groups. Every two weeks, the class will arrive at a consensus (through discussion) on new plots to be posted. These will be accessible via the Esta semana link.

General Guidelines:

Here are the guidelines for creating and posting plot ideas for the course:

1. Plots (tramas) must be discussed by the group before final posting:
   1. Each group has a folder set up on the discussion board in BlackBoard;
   2. In week 1 of a plot development cycle, each group will discuss possible ideas (in their group space) for the new plots. When the group has reached some concensus on two fo the proposed ideas, they will post those as a single message thread in the main Discussion Board for the course under the appropriate Telenovela Trama #;
   3. In week 2, everyone will discuss the plot ideas posted and, after a week of conversation, I will post a survey and we will vote as a class to choose our favorite two plots. These, in turn will be added to the plot summaries on the telenovela site.
2. Extra Credit: If a group's plots are chosen for a given week, every member of that group will receive 15 extra points for Homework grades that week.
3. Everyone must participate: Everyone is expected to participate in the development and production of the plots.

Inventando tramas:

Hay ciertas cosas que te van a ayudar bastante con respecto a la creación de tramas nuevas:

1. Primero, hace falta llegar a conocer los personajes.
2. También, es muy buena idea saber la historia actual de la telenovela y la de sus personajes.
3. Cuando comienzas a crear situaciones nuevas, es más fácil explorar relaciones ya existentes que crear unas nuevas.
4. En las telenovelas buenas, siempre hay un buen equilibrio entre la acción y la psicología.
5. Es una escena muy aburrida en la que no pasa nada. ¡Viva la complicación!
