This new lecture/discussion based course focuses on the molecular and cellular basis of disease. The alterations in cellular processes that lead to the development of various pathological conditions will be discussed. Each class will consist of an hour lecture by the instructor introducing and explaining the mechanisms of numerous pathological conditions on the cellular and molecular level. Remaining class time will be devoted to the discussion of the lecture topic based on the assigned readings related to the lecture.

The course will cover the following topics:

*Cellular adaptations *Symptoms of cellular disease *Pathology of the organelles *Cell injury and response *Cell death*Extracellular pathology *Inflamation *Wound healing *Immunopathology *Neoplasia *Genetic disorders *Microorganisms and disease *Environmental pathology
