There will be a parent meeting on Wednesday, August 24th at 5:30 pm in room 124, Catlett Music Center. All new parents should attend.
Beginner Suzuki classes start Monday August 29th at 5:30 pm, room 228. Traditional Beginner Class meets on Tuesdays starting September 6th; but depends on enrollment. Intermediate Orchestra Class at 5:30 starts Tuesday, September 6th, room TBA. Sooner String Symphony starts Tuesday August 30th, at 5:30 pm, room TBA.

- Suzuki classes: Beginner Suzuki Violin Class: Mondays at 5:30 pm, room 228
- Intermediate Orchestra: Tuesdays at 5:30 pm
- Sooner Symphony Orchestra: Tuesdays at 5:30 pm
Beginner Suzuki classes will meet on Mondays at 5:30 in room 228. Please attend the Parent meeting on August 24th at 5:30 pm in room 124 for further information. Cost for this class is $100 for the semester.
Children that participated in the Beginner Orchestra last year should sign up for the Intermediate orchestra. Students that participated in the Intermediate orchestra last year should sign up for the SSO. Students already performing in the SSO will remain in the SSO (except for a high school string quartet). Mr. Dustin Shaw, Graduate Violin Performance major, will be conducting the Intermediate and Sooner String Orchestras this year. We are very excited about Mr. Shaw joining the Sooner String Project.
Students ages 6 through 18 are welcome to participate in orchestra and/or private lessons. Many of the Sooner String Project teachers are graduate performance majors at OU. All teachers have had prior teaching experience.
All parents must sign paperwork that pertains to teaching minors on the OU campus. The university requires that all parents sign consent forms. Your child will not be allowed to start classes until the forms are completed.OU School of Music Home Page
Orchestra classes will meet on Tuesdays at 4:30 or 5:30 p.m. Private lessons will be scheduled Monday through Thursday by the assigned teacher. Children and adults of all ages are welcome to participate.
This program structure provides elementary, secondary, and college students the opportunities to share their musical talents.
