Greenhouse

Fish stocks are maintained in the Aquatic Research Facility of OU. Tanks of different sized are available outdoor and indoor in a greenhouse. Stocks are also maintained in two huge outdoor ponds. The greenhouse offers space for experiments.

Life-history Setup

For life-history experiments we have a common-garden setup that can house up to 100 individual fish. Temperature and lighting can be regulated to conform to experimental specifications.

Cave lab

For the housing of the cave fish, a darkroom is available. This darkroom houses some of our cave fish stocks, and is fully equipped for common-garden rearing of up to 100 individual fish.

 

Dark Room

Parasite lab

An isolated room with 120 tanks for individual housing of fish is available for parasitological challenge experiments. Water and air flow as well as temperature can be regulated for each tank. Microscopes are equiped with a digital imaging system.

Behavior lab

The Behavior lab provides four experimental setups for the observation and quantification of fish behavior. The setup includes a computer-mediated individual tracking system, which can be operated from seperate room, as well as interactive playback of video images.
