MIS 5323 Project Management

Course Description:

This course focuses on the management of systems development projects, including their implementation within an organization.  However, the concepts, techniques and issues that are introduced and discussed apply as well to the management of other types of projects as well as many other types of organizational activities, e.g., managing task forces and committees.  Particular attention will be given to “fast-cycle” development projects, i.e., those associated with e-business initiatives.  Planning, organizing, staffing and controlling systems development projects require traditional management skills, an understanding of quality assurance techniques, and an appreciation of the creative and volatile world of information technology.
