Additional Readings
-
In addition to the reading in Solomon's The Big Questions (see the
Syllabus),
throughout the term you will also be given short reading assignments, usually
from original works by leading philosophers.
-
For each unit there is a page in this web site that contains all that unit's
additional texts.
-
You can go directly to an assigned text from the appropriate date on the
Reading
assignments page, or directly from any exercise that involves that text.
-
Or, you can see all the texts for a unit by clicking on the appropriate
color-coded buttons below.
-
You should use the set of texts for each unit as you study for the
unit exams, and for the final exam. The texts deal with the topics
given in the overviews (and course Outline)--to
study, focus on how the texts present the ideas listed in the topics.
-
You are welcome to print out the texts to read at your convenience.
If you do, set the margins to .50" top and bottom, left and right.
To do this, go to the File menu on your browser, select Page Setup, and
enter .50" for the margins.
