A somewhat unorthodox Jewish work with mystical leanings, commenting mostly on matters from the Biblical books of Genesis and Exodus. It is ascribed to Rabbi Eliezer (d. early 2d century C.E.), but it was probably composed or compiled in Palestine around the 6th-8th centuries. It draws partly on the Midrashic work Genesis Rabbah.
