Weather: Early May is usually very nice in central Oklahoma, with the possibility of thunderstorms and, very remotely, severe wind or tornadoes. The National Weather Center is on our campus, as is a regional office of the National Weather Service, and we would get plenty of warning of danger, which is highly unlikely. Presently, the forecast for the meeting is for pleasant temperatures in the 70s and 80s with some possiblity of storms.
All attendees are invited to attend a reception/mixer at the Sooner Hotel
at 6 PM on Wednesday. We will be holding early registration then in
the Sooner Hotel lobby.
The final program is now available in .pdf format.
It replicates the printed program that will be included in registration materials. NOTE:
If you have trouble printing this file, you might try printing just pages 1-43,
which is inclusive of all the frontmatter, sessions, and the index. Apparently
the ads at the end of the file are creating some sort of printing error. The
ads appear in full in the printed version of the program that will be included
in registration materials.
Airport transportation: Airport Express shuttle service (405-681-3311; toll-free 877-688-3311)
Local transportation: For those staying at the Sooner Hotel, the walk to the Oklahoma Memorial Union where panels and sessions will be held is about 15 minutes. For those at Sooner who don't want to walk and for those staying further away who don't want to contend with parking on campus, we will be relying on OU's public transportation buses and a few rented vans to get people from hotels to meeting venues. These buses, called CART, run every half hour and come very close to the Sooner Hotel, Traditions Square Apartments, and Sooner Legends Hotel and Suites. CART is providing tokens for rides free of charge in your registration materials.
The Blue Route serves Sooner Hotel (Law School stop) and Traditions
II: (http://cart.ou.edu/route_blue.shtml).
The purple route comes close to Sooner Legends, diagonally across the intersection
of 24th and Lindsay. (http://cart.ou.edu/route_purple.shtml)
A much less convenient route, the red one, serves hotels on the west side of I-35. (http://cart.ou.edu/route_red.shtml)
We will also have some vans dedicated to transporting meeting participants, even to and from remote hotels. These vans may take a while to get to and from all the places people ask for them, but we hope they will allow us to serve everyone. A flyer in your registration bag will provide a number to call if you need a ride.
The Oklahoma Memorial
Union (OMU) is the location for all meeting sessions except for the opening
night reception and program and the closing night reception and banquet. Maps
of the Union are available here: http://union.ou.edu/content/view/95/30/ .
Registration will be on the 2nd floor in the Beaird Lobby. OMU is #21 on the
campus map available above.
If you are coming by car, you can park in either the OMU Parking Center, the
Elm Avenue Parking Center or the Asp Avenue Parking center (see the campus
map available above).
